Getting started with CareerIbis
A short tour of Application Packs, the Alignment Report and how CareerIbis helps you tailor a CV or resume for a specific role.
CareerIbis helps you recognise, strengthen and communicate relevant evidence for a specific role. You bring a specific role you want to apply for and your existing CV or resume. CareerIbis reads the two together, shows you where your experience already fits and where it does not, and helps you produce a tailored Application Pack for that one role.
It is not a generic writer, a job board or an interview predictor. Every project is anchored to one target role at a time, and the wording it produces is only as strong as the evidence you provide.
What an Application Pack contains
- An Alignment Report that maps your existing experience against the target role.
- A tailored rewrite of your CV or resume for that role.
- A covering letter tailored to the same role.
- Optional LinkedIn profile suggestions you can review and apply yourself.
- One refinement pass for tone, emphasis, structure or role alignment.
- DOCX exports of the documents in the pack.
What to prepare before you start
- Your most up-to-date CV or resume, in plain text or a common document format.
- The full job description you are applying for. Include the whole thing, not a summary.
- Any extra context: company name, hiring manager if known, particular projects or figures you want considered.
- A few minutes to answer gap prompts honestly if the Alignment Report asks for them.
The typical flow
- Start a new project from your Dashboard and add the role, company and job description.
- Paste or upload your current CV or resume.
- Generate an Alignment Report to see strengths, gaps and prompts for the role.
- Answer any gap prompts you can answer honestly and add missing facts to your Candidate Profile.
- Generate the tailored rewrite and covering letter, and any LinkedIn suggestions you want.
- Use the single refinement pass if the tone, emphasis or structure needs adjustment.
- Review carefully, then export to DOCX.
Why source material matters
CareerIbis works from what you give it. A thin CV and a two-line job description produce a thin, generic result. A specific CV with concrete achievements, paired with the full job description, gives the Alignment Report enough to do real work, and gives the rewrite real evidence to draw on.
Where your judgement still matters
- You decide which of your experience is relevant to a particular role.
- You confirm which gap prompts you can honestly answer, and which you cannot.
- You review the rewrite for accuracy before you send it anywhere.
- You choose whether to apply LinkedIn suggestions on your own profile.
Preparation checklist
- Current CV or resume with concrete achievements, not just responsibilities.
- Full job description for the target role.
- Company name and any application context you know.
- A short list of proof points you want the rewrite to consider.
- Time to review the Alignment Report before rewriting.
What you keep in your account
- Candidate Profile: reusable career facts you can bring into any project.
- Saved projects and intake content, so you can pick up where you left off.
- Alignment Reports, rewrites and refinements for each project.
